Executive Chef Jaanai Byerly discovered her love of cooking and entertaining at the very young age of seven as her mother’s sous chef. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Houston’s prestigious Conrad Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management. She then furthered her education at the top-ranked California Culinary Academy in San Francisco where she received classical training from professional chefs from around the world. Jaanai was honored to complete her externship under Chef Thomas Keller at the world renowned French Laundry in the wine county of Napa Valley, California. She has since worked at a number of fine dining establishments.

Utilizing her training and skills she established THE EMPTY PLATE in 2006. Chef Jaanai’s mission is to provide her clients with great tasting food and excellent presentation. The Empty Plate offers fine cuisine to all.
